Leadership camp 2021

Leadership Camp 2021

The camp was held from 15 to 16 March with different types of leaders from different CCAs and classes.

What are your thoughts and feelings about the leadership camp?
I really enjoyed the camp because of the many fun activities that let us grow and learn how to be better leaders, such as the different personalities (DISC) when leading. I personally am a "steadiness" (S) person. I learned that in different situations, different people will react differently. I also learned the 4 principles in being an effective leader, the LOOK stands for Listen, Observe, Outcome, and Knowledge. Through all this, the most important saying I took away was "Leaders are not born, they are made."
How has the camp changed your view of how you see leadership?
I see leadership now as a broad spectrum of personalities. In different situations, I should act accordingly to try my best to solve the problems. I should not just stick to what or how I usually act and that I should step out of my comfort zone and grow as a person.
What are two things you wish to apply in your role as a student leader?
I wish to keep the DISC personalities in mind and have a better understanding of how people act in certain situations so that there would not be any miscommunications or misunderstandings. I would also wish to commit to practicing the 4 principles, LOOK as I want to be the best leader I can be.
What is one area you would like to challenge yourself to grow in?
I would like to challenge myself to be more "outgoing" or step up more as I always let other people take the lead instead of actually saying something and leading everyone.
